Biography
Rioghnach Connolly grew up surrounded by a rich musical heritage. It was there, and at the Armagh Pipers’ Club in Arma-gh City, in the north-east of Ireland, that she developed her taste and talent for singing and playing the flute. Since then, she has performed all over the world.
Far from being content with a single musical style, but steeped in traditional Irish influences, she happily draws on folk, soul, hip-hop, jazz and blues to create a unique and wonderfully free sound.
Ríoghnach Connolly was nominated for Best Folk Singer at the RTÉ Folk Awards and won Folk Singer Of The Year in 2019 at the BBC R2 Folk Awards, where the duo were also nominated for Best Group.
